What is SME IPO?
SME IPO stands for Small and Medium Enterprise Initial Public Offering. It’s a fundraising process where a private company categorized as a small or medium enterprise goes public by issuing shares to the general market. These SMEs typically get listed on specialized platforms like BSE SME or NSE Emerge. The SME IPO platform offers small and medium-sized companies the opportunity to become publicly traded entities. For an SME IPO to take place, there are specific requirements: (i) the post-issue paid-up capital should be less than Rs. 25 crores, and (ii) there must be a minimum post-issue capital of Rs. 1 crore.
